Este projeto de investigação (HPRT 3) tem três áreas principais: Linguística Latina, Epigrafia e História Antiga. No âmbito destas áreas, o projeto tem como objetivos gerais: o estudo da língua latina em contextos multilingues na Península Ibérica; e o estudo dos textos nos seus contextos culturais (arqueológicos e religiosos). O projeto desenvolve estudos sobre as relações entre a língua latina e outras línguas no contexto da Península Ibérica, e a análise de textos epigráficos e do seu contexto arqueológico, do período paleo-hispânico à Antiguidade Tardia.

The Research Project (HPRT 3) has three main branches: Latin Linguistics, Epigraphy, and Ancient History. With these main areas, the Research Project aims: study the Latin Language in multilingual contexts in the Iberian Peninsula; and study texts in their cultural (archaeological, religious) contexts. The research Group will develop work on relations between the Latin language and other languages, in the Iberian Peninsula and the analysis of epigraphic texts, and their archaeological context, from Paleo-Hispanic times to Late Antiquity.

De Roma a Olisipo: perspectivas sobre a edição de epigrafia no século XXI e sobre os estudos de arqueologia entre Itália e Lusitania

Esta conferência pretende ser um espaço de reflexão sobre os desafios, problemas teóricos e metodológicos que se colocam na edição e estudo dos textos epigráficos e dos seus contextos históricos e arqueológicos. Procura-se reunir vozes de especialistas e investigadores de gerações diferentes de forma a gerar um debate e cruzamento de perspectivas distintas, contrastando o trabalho epigráfico que tem vindo a ser desenvolvido no contexto da cidade de Roma e de outros espaços da Península Itálica com o trabalho epigráfico desenvolvido no contexto da parte ocidental da Península Ibérica; tomam-se assim as cidades de Roma e a antiga Olisipo como pontos de referência simbólicos para essa reflexão. Tratar-se-á ainda da história da arqueologia âmbito no qual, independentemente do foco epigráfico, existem informações várias sobre colaborações entre Itália e Portugal. Pretende-se também proporcionar ao público académico da Universidade de Lisboa, em particular, aos estudantes de epigrafia, história antiga, arqueologia e estudos clássicos o contacto com as discussões em torno das orientações metodológicas e desafios da área no século XXI.

Questa conferenza intende essere uno spazio di riflessione sui problemi teorici e metodologici che si pongono nella pubblicazione e nello studio dei testi epigrafici e dei loro contesti storici e archeologici. Si cerca di riunire le voci di esperti e ricercatori di diverse generazioni per generare un dibattito e un incrocio di diverse prospettive, confrontando il lavoro epigrafico che è stato sviluppato nel contesto della città di Roma e di altre aree della Penisola italiana con il lavoro epigrafico sviluppato nel contesto della parte occidentale della Penisola Iberica; le città di Roma e l’antica Olisipo sono quindi prese come punti di riferimento simbolici per questa riflessione. Parimenti ci si occuperà di storia dell’archeologia laddove, indipendentemente dal focus epigrafico, si abbiano informazioni circa le collaborazioni tra Italia e Portogallo. Si intende inoltre fornire al pubblico accademico dell’Università di Lisbona, in particolare agli studenti di epigrafia, storia antica, archeologia e studi classici, il contatto con le discussioni sugli orientamenti metodologici e le sfide del settore nel XXI secolo.

From Rome to Olisipo: perspectives on epigraphic texts edition in the 21st century and on archaeological studies between Italy and Lusitania

This conference aims to be a space for reflection on the challenges, theoretical and methodological problems that arise in the editing and study of epigraphic texts and their historical and archaeological contexts. The aim is to bring together the voices of specialists and researchers from different generations to generate a debate and cross different perspectives, contrasting the epigraphic work that has been developed in the context of the city of Rome and other spaces of the Italian Peninsula with the work epigraphic developed in the context of the western part of the Iberian Peninsula; thus, the cities of Rome and ancient Olisipo are taken as symbolic points of reference for this reflection. Similarly, we will deal with the history of archaeology, where we have information about the collaborations between Italy and Portugal, regardless of the epigraphic focus. It is also intended to provide the academic public of the University of Lisbon, particularly students of epigraphy, ancient history, archaeology and classical studies, with contact with the discussions around the methodological orientations and challenges of the area in the 21st century.

Abstract:
From the Frame Semantics to the Linguistic Landscape. Understanding the Meaning of Ancient Texts
The lecture presents some heuristic tools for text comprehension, which are related to landscape linguistics. Particularly for ancient documents the understanding of the meaning of the text has to make use of any possible help coming from other disciplines. Geosemiotics, context theory and landscape phenomenology will be described with the example of some cases taken from the epigraphic situation of pre-Roman Italy.
